- The Insulated Dew Shield will delay the onset of dew
- It will keep dew from forming much longer than metal or plastic dew prevention devices.
- Absorbs Scattered Light
- They have black felt totally covering the inside to absorb any extraneous light.
- Placement of the Dew Shield
- Half of the shield is placed around the optical tube, and half extends beyond the objective lens.
- The trick is to keep the tube temperature above the dew point
- Metal and glass radiate heat faster than air, so the temperature of the telescope tube and lens always gets below the ambient air temperature. The Insulated Dew Shield slows the radiation of the heat enough to allow hours of dew free observing.
- The Dew Shield will not remove dew that has already condensed on the telescope.
